My family and I went snorkeling in the Rooi-Els
And only a few meters from the shore, I came across this dark shy-shark (one of the many harmless shark species in the western cape).
It was swimming through some kelp when i first spotted it.
I dove down and slowly lifted up the kelp blanket the shy-shark was swimming under.
He didn’t seem to be alarmed by me.
So I gently picked him up to have a closer look at his patterns and identify what species it was.
After a few seconds of admiring it, I let it go and watched it swim back into the vast jungle of twisting kelp branches and seaweed.
